So, our journey is unique in the sense that we took the "scenic" route to finally getting together. As kids, you could find Kaelynn with JC's sister Jackie, dancing in ballet class and zipping around in a life size barbie jeep. And Kaelynn's brother Nick, coming up with magic tricks with JC's brother Michael (hello Best Man). The Stanton's ended up switching schools and, as is prone to happen, early childhood friendships faded. Fast forward to June 16th 2017 on a serendipitous evening at Congressional Country Club (hello Wedding Venue!) for a chance encounter that would alter both of their lives forever. It was a normal evening like any other. JC had just moved back to Washington, DC from New York City after 5 years away and was living in your standard house full of single guys in their late twenties. Kaelynn, a year out of college, was living at home and working in Bethesda. JC had convinced his roommate to join him for Congressional's annual Summer Soiree. Convinced this would be a great place to find a potential partner, JC put on his finest threads to go grab a transfusion, the famous deadly cocktail, at the Congressional Stone bar using his Mom as a wingman. Kaelynn, who didn't want to go out that night, was convinced at the last minute by her friend Ashleigh Popera (hello Bridesmaid) that it was time to silence the dating apps, forget about boys, and go out for a good old fashioned girls night. It was around 7:30PM when JC, fresh off retrieving two transfusions from the Stone Bar, was having a conversation while facing the southwest corner of the grass terrace. Over his friend's shoulder he saw a striking blonde beauty approach his Mom. Without thinking he looked at his friends and said "If you'll excuse me for a moment, I have to go say hi to my mother". He walked over to introduce himself and after a conversation about going to school in Ohio (Go Buckeyes! Go 'Yers!), friends in Chicago, and a night filled with dancing the rest, as they say, is history.
