It all started with a wink and a shimmy. We met at our friends Matt and Lizzy’s wedding. Matt is Kaelyn's friend from High School and Andy’s friend from college. Somehow when Kaelyn went to visit Matt at Brockport and spend time with the Bramley boys (Andy’s college friend group) she never met Andy. It wasn’t until the night of Matt & Lizzy’s wedding that our eyes locked across the dance floor. Andy winked then shimmed his shoulders at Kaelyn who gasped at pure shock and the two danced the night away. Thank goodness for Vodka Cranberries that gave Andy the liquid courage to initiate a wink across the dance floor. ;)
We went hiking in Ellicottville at Holiday Valley to “see the lake at the top of the mountain.” After climbing the steep ski slope we got to a rangers station half way up and stopped to enjoy the view. Andy went in the backpack to grab “water” while I was reflecting “Hey remember that time a year ago when you wanted to ask me to be your girlfriend here but I asked you to be my boyfriend that morning….”and that’s when he got down on one knee to propose. His opening line was “A year ago…” The rest was a blur but filled with the most thoughtful words I’ve ever heard. After saying YES! And the moment settled in I wanted to facetime my family in Albany to tell them. Andy encouraged me to enjoy the moment and be present. I saw the look in his eye and when we got down to the bottom of the mountain Andy had our families at the bottom to celebrate! We had champagne and strawberries and I still have no idea what that lake at the top of the mountain looks like. We are so excited to be getting married down the mountain from where Andy proposed! We can’t wait to celebrate with you in a place that is near to our hearts and a part of our story.
