How We Met

July 24th, 2015

Sam and Kaelie met in San Diego During Sam’s time in the Marine Corps. Kaelie was born and raised in San Diego. They would both Frequent a beach Called Fiesta Island. One night, Kaelie was having a bonfire with her friends when Sam and his friends drove by in a big truck. Sam and his friends soon realized all the bonfire pits on the island were taken and decided to drive around another lap and stop where Kaelie and her friends were. They asked to join their bonfire and the two friend groups merged for the night. Sam was quickly drawn to Kaelie who was not impressed with his confidence and charm. At one point, Kaelie was floating in a raft and Sam walked down and asked if he could join her. Kaelie asked him if he was going to get in the water in his cowboy boots and his response was…. You want me too? And then after laughing, she saw that Texas charm although she wouldn’t quite admit it yet. By the end of the night Sam insisted on getting her phone number which she obliged. She continued to play hard to get for a few months of dating, but they quickly became inseparable. Sam and Kaelie are not only best friends, but adventure buddies, and life partners. Constantly challenging each other to be there best selves and evolve together.

Our Engagement

October 4th, 2020

Sam Proposed to Kaelie After just over 5 years together at the top of Mount Washington in The White Mountain National Forrest. They started the day with a motorcycle ride from Loon Mountain to Mount Washington at 6:30 am. They went through the Franconia Notch and through the windy mountain roads during peak foliage. The trees leaves were all changing and were vibrant as ever. Once they got there we grabbed our tickets for the COG train that takes you up the mountain and Sam grabbed a beer. Kaelie questioned his choice of such an early beer but he needed a little extra help. They got on our train and proceeded up the mountain listening to all the fun facts of the mountain and looking at all the beauty around them. Kaelie was totally clueless Sam had a ring in his pocket. Sam later admitted he changed pockets a bunch of times prior to the big ask as he was afraid she would notice it. When they arrived at the top they took a bathroom break and that’s when Sam moved the Ring from an inside pocket to his outside jacket pocket. They were extremely lucky because the day they had gone the visibility from the top was limitless when the day prior it had rained, hailed and snowed with zero visibility. They were looking at all the beauty when Sam took Kaelie to a spot off Crawford Trail that he had scoped out. He had asked Kaelie to give her camera over to his mom to snap the shot. They held hands looking at the colorful landscape below when Sam Turned to her and got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
