AT&T Discovery District
One of the best things about the Discovery District is the range of things to see and do – The Media Wall consists of more than 9,000 square feet of futuristic, colorful high-definition displays on a 104-foot tall outdoor wall interpreting communication in the natural world. The Globe is a 30-foot-tall, three-dimensional representation of AT&T’s iconic logo, decorated with 30,000 LEDs. Visitors can walk inside the installation to experience arrangements of light and sound that fuse art and technology. Food and drink spots surround the area!
Klyde Warren Park
Klyde Warren Park serves as a central gathering space for Dallas and its visitors. The 5.2-acre deck park, designed by The Office of James Burnett, is an urban green space built over the recessed Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul streets in downtown Dallas. Klyde Warren Park is a highly active space, providing daily free programming for the public ranging from yoga to lecture series to outdoor concerts and films. The park is privately operated and managed by the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation. They have food trucks and surrounding restaurants you can choose from while enjoying the park.
Katy Trail (Dallas)
What was once an abandoned railroad line is now one of the most iconic destinations in Dallas: the Katy Trail. Each year, the park welcomes over 1.5 million visits to the beautiful scenery on 3.5 miles of well-maintained path. Union Pacific Railroad built the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and established the network in 1865 as the Southern Branch. The route was also commonly called the K-T, and eventually the Katy. Following the heyday of the railroad, Union Pacific donated the abandoned lines to the city of Dallas in 1993. The initial plan for the historic Katy rail line was to use it as part of the DART line; however, in the mid 1990s, a group of passionate neighbors and local businesses proposed that the line be converted into the beautiful greenbelt you see today. Stop by the Katy Trail Ice House along the trail for a summer beer and cheese fries!
Dallas Farmers Market
Enjoy a 26,000 square foot food hall and artisanal vendor market containing four anchor restaurants, a mixture of local specialty foods, artisanal food vendors, and seating areas both inside and out where you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in a view of the Dallas skyline or observing the market-goers. The Market + The Shops at Harvest and Taylor Lofts are home to locally-owned small businesses with shopping and eats throughout.
