Travel Note

Traveling to Sayulita

Sayulita is located 27 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). There are several ways to get to Sayulita. Depending on the airport you fly out of, we recommend using the Mobile Passport App which enables U.S. citizens to save time during the entry process at most major U.S. airports. Please review Health & Safety measures both in your home town as well as Mexico's Health & Safety measures before traveling.

Flight

Navigating the Airport

When you get off of the plane in Puerto Vallarta, here is what to expect: 1. Pick up your luggage. 2. Go through the security checkpoint and customs. Mexico has a push-button system. If you get a green light, you proceed through. If the light is red, they will quickly search your bags. 3. After customs, you will go down a hallway full of people who will try to offer you deals and promotions. They really are trying to sell you a timeshare. Bypass this whole room and DON'T MAKE EYE CONTACT! 4. Once you exit that room, you will find yourself in a much quieter area. Here there are ATMs where you can use your American bank card and get Mexican Pesos. The ATM and your bank will likely charge a fee, but we find this the easiest way to get the local currency. 5. Proceed to your planned transportation below!

Rental Car

Traveling From The Airport To Sayulita

The ride from Puerto Vallarta to Sayulita is about 35-40 minutes. We recommend booking a shuttle to Sayulita ahead of time. You won't need a car in the city because the locals only use golf carts. Shuttle Looking for an easier, more lux option? Book a shuttle through Jose Ramos (LINK BELOW) and you won't have to leave the airport or deal with the headache. Please note, this option is a bit more expensive. Shuttles around are $140 round trip. UBER Ubers are around $20 one way. Ubers are not allowed in the airport. Order the uber in the airport, exit out of the front of the airport, take a left along the front of the building, you will arrive at a bridge that goes over the main street, cross the bridge and wait across the street for the uber. Taxi Go to the official taxi booths and purchase a ticket, it will cost approximately $35 one way. Note- Do not take rides from people soliciting you at the airport saying the price is cheaper.
