Kadijah and Michael met in Brooklyn, NY during the summer of 2022 at an outdoor park event that their church was hosting. At the event, when Kadijah and Michael were introduced to each other, they briefly said hello and went their separate ways. It wasn't until the end of the event, when Michael was standing near to Kadijah, as she was getting ready to leave, that she decided to start a conversation with him to not seem "rude." Once they started talking, Kadijah told Michael that she was new to New York City, and that she was looking for recommendations on places to go to explore her new home. Michael told Kadijah that he was from New York and could recommend places that she should go. They continued to talk, finding out that they both come from Caribbean backgrounds, Kadijah being from Trinidad and Tobago and Michael's family being from Jamaica. As the event was coming to an end, the two decided to exchange numbers for Michael to send Kadijah places in New York that she could explore. Kadijah didn't expect to talk with Michael again, but after exchanging numbers the two began to text each other and decided to hangout the following weekend. When the day came for them to hangout, what was supposed to be a brief outing of axe throwing, turned into an 8-hour long date that the two did not want to end. Kadijah and Michael found out that they had more in common with each other and were both interested in seeing each other again to see where things could go. After going on dates every weekend throughout the rest of the summer, the two became inseparable and fell in love, realizing early on that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
