We met through mutual friends the fall of 2015. One of my roommates at the University of South Carolina, Katey, mentioned that her boyfriend, now husband, Anthony, had a roommate (aka Kaden) at Winthrop University that was interested in going to a sorority function. I was always fine going alone or taking a friend, but I decided to take a chance with Kaden. Luckily, he was able to go. The theme of the function was "Famous Couples" and we decided to go as Wendy Peffercorn and Squints from The Sandlot. The function wasn't the best, but little did I know that it would be the last time I would need to find a date for the rest of my life.
Oh boy, where to start. I will try to make this short and quick but before I do, everyone needs to understand that this took a lot of moving parts coming together to make this work. Morgan and I, along with a group of friends, had tickets to the Greenville Country Music Festival at Fluor Field in downtown. I already had the ring and had been trying to figure out how I wanted to propose. For those who know me, you know that I love big gestures and this Music Festival seemed like the perfect opportunity. A month before the event I had emailed the event staff and asked about the possibility of proposing on stage at the concert. A couple weeks went by and it was now the week of the event, and I hadn't heard back from anyone. Just when I had come to terms that it wasn't meant to be, someone from the event called and told me they had everything set up for me to propose to Morgan on stage. That Saturday we all went downtown and hung out before eventually going into the venue. The plan was simple. I "win" backstage passes for Morgan and we go out on stage to help throw t-shirts to the crowd, the MC gives me the mic and I do my thing. About 15 minutes after entering the venue, the staff member who set everything up, stopped me and said that we "won" backstage passes. We walked around backstage for a little and then it was time to go up on stage. I would say I wasn't nervous but I would be lying to you. So up the stairs we go and there were no t-shirts to throw! (I think this is where she started getting suspicious) The MC introduced us to the crowd and then out of nowhere just hands me the mic. I took it, got down on one knee and popped the question. I have asked her a lot of questions since we started dating, and had gotten a lot of "no" answers, but this time, she said "yes".
