We met through mutual friends in the fall of 2017, when Kade got out of the Navy and moved back to Louisiana. Kade was going to go to school that spring in Lake Charles. Elizabeth was living and working in Alexandria. We first met at a Halloween party and... barely spoke. To be honest, neither of us were interested. Thankfully, we had some very determined friends. We hung out a few more times and realized we actually had a lot in common, and really enjoyed being around each other. Our first date was on December 20, 2017. We went to see the Christmas lights at the Alexandria zoo, and then to Elizabeth’s favorite sushi restaurant. We were supposed to hang out with a group of people on Christmas Eve, but everyone else flaked on us. So that ended up being our (un?)official second date. From then on we spent every day together. We made things official on January 1, 2018–also Elizabeth’s birthday (Kade said he only had enough memory for one special date, so it was easiest to combine them :)). In August of 2018, Elizabeth accepted a job in Lake Charles and moved there, with Kade. Kade popped the question onboard the Enchantment of the Seas on February 22, 2020. Within the next few weeks, everything was shut down and cancelled due to Covid-19. If you ever need to know if you’re marrying the right person, being locked in a house 24/7 with them for months on end will definitely do the trick! In August of 2020, Hurricane Laura ravaged Lake Charles. We evacuated safely, and the damage to our house could’ve been far worse. But Elizabeth’s office was destroyed, and a new job opportunity opened up in Baton Rouge. We love where we live, everything there is to do here, and our little family— Elizabeth’s 8 year old cat, Maggie, and two kittens who crashed our engagement shoot and insisted we take them home, Poncho and Marie. We are eagerly awaiting May 29, 2021, when we get to celebrate our love with the people we love the most. Can’t wait to see you there!
