They each took a step of faith, and a chance, by signing up for online dating. Kadafy first came across Adena’s profile and made his interest known, as they soon began messaging back and forth. The chemistry that began online grew only stronger on their first date, at Tico Restaurant in downtown D.C., losing track of all time together well into the night as the restaurant shut down with just the two of them remaining. Over time, what was once just dating became a relationship, a relationship grounded in their love for God, and His love for them. It was Him who led their hearts to fall in love with one another. And over the course of three years, He continued to write their story both in the grand and simple times that they spent together. From foodie excursions and creative recipes they trailed together, to Johnnyswim listening car rides and concerts, outdoor adventures and indoor tv binging, and most of all reading, studying, and praying together, God was carving out their own time and space in his infinite universe where their purpose of becoming husband and wife could be fulfilled. And so it happened on their third anniversary when Kadafy had recreated the meal from their first date, in the place where they first became a couple, in which he soon led Adena back to where they first fell in love. Amidst the flower petals and lit candles all around was the ring that was awaiting Adena, along with her answer to Kadafy’s question asking her to be his wife and for him to be her husband. She has chosen him. He has chosen her. And God has chosen them both for this moment.
