Kacy and I have been around each other since 2nd and 1st grade. Though we went to the same elementary, middle and high schools growing up, we didn’t say much more than “hello” in passing. Eight years ago, Kacy caught my eye in an Instagram post where I couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. It was just a year later by chance, more specifically SEC football, at a Florida Georgia tailgate where we shared our first kiss. From there, I knew I wanted more of those moments with her. I tried multiple times after that to get her to hang out with me but each time I was turned down with some terrible excuse (which she later admitted she was just too scared). Fast forward a few months, my feelings to pursue her hadn’t changed and I finally convinced her to visit me while I lived in Atlanta...and the rest is history! The love that we share is so special and unique and I knew it was something I couldn’t live without. So in September, I created a fake 30th birthday trip for myself which allowed me to plan our engagement at Ponte Vedra Beach, the first place we had ever vacationed to together and quickly became our favorite getaway spot. It was the perfect scenario as we walked along the beach trying to see who could find the best shark tooth. Kacy showed me what she had found and as I began to show her what I had, I got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with me (my tooth was better)! Unbeknownst to Kacy, our families & closest friends watched from the condo balcony and soon joined us on the beach for celebratory hugs and toasts! Trusting my gut and not letting Kacy make any more terrible excuses has led us to where we are now, and I can’t wait to marry her with all of our friends & family there to witness our love!
