How We Met

We Swiped Right

March 2014 It all started when we both decided to swipe right on the dating app Tinder! That night Brian sent a message and 2 weeks later we decided to meet in person. We met at the movie theater in Middletown and I let him pick the movie...which meant we saw "300". So romantic!! After that he asked if I wanted to go with him to a big bonfire in the woods with his friends, and I said yes! (I know...getting into a truck with somebody you just met to go into the middle of the woods sounds crazy) I remember texting my mom where I was going and that I was sure he wasn't going to kidnap me! She wasn’t very happy about that! We off-roaded to the bonfire and had so much fun that we did not leave until early into the next morning. Little did I know that he had told his friend that night “I am going to marry that girl.”

The Proposal

April Fools

April 01, 2020 Covid-19 has put us all into quarantine...the only real activities you were allowed to do were outside. Brian had asked if I wanted to go on a hike with the dog and his cousin Joel. It was a nice day and a great excuse to get out of the house! I definitely am not the biggest fan of hiking so Brian decided to lead us to the gazebo area at Hubbard Park in Meriden. Once we got to the gazebo, Brian went around the back and called the dog to him, and I stayed talking to Joel. A little while later Tucker comes walking back towards me and I see this box hanging from his collar! I had no idea what it was but it looked like a ring box! But I thought that there is no way this is happening right now, I have no makeup on, my outfit is not cute, and Brian has always told me he was waiting until we turned 30! I opened the box and inside was a silver band with a tiny baguette in the middle...now the real confusion set in. Clearly this is not a proposal because I already wear a silver band so why would he be giving this to me?! Before I could really process anything else, I turned and Brian got down on one knee, and was holding a beautiful diamond ring in his hand. Of course I cried instantly! The other ring was part of the April Fool's Day joke...typical Brian! Joel got the whole thing on video which was perfect. To top things off, Channel 3 News did a story on our engagement being a “Bright Spot” during the height of the pandemic.
