The tallest of our Golden, CO, parks, Lookout Mountain stands more than 7,300 feet above Golden, just west of downtown. Known for its beautiful natural splendor and breathtaking views, a hike or drive up to its peak will be worth every moment. Once you reach the top, you’ll find clear views of the Rocky Mountains and the city of Denver in the distance. Also known to the locals as make out mountain ;)
A Colorado must see! They have a gift shop and restaurant at the park. Many people watch the sunrise here or go to workout on the stairs before concerts. There are 5 hiking trails ranging from 1-6 miles long. About a 12 minute drive from Golden.
For anyone wanting to get a round of golf in! They actually found dinosaur fossils while building the course, hence the name. We will see you here for our wedding on Saturday!
Genesee Park has a Buffalo Overlook off I-70 and has the most beautiful view of the mountains as you head into the canyon, see photo above. You can also see the herd of bison.
For those wanting to venture further into the mountains, Idaho Springs is a perfect place to go. A 30 minute drive from Golden up I-70, it's a beautiful drive. Located right off the highway. Beau Jo's Pizza is a must if you plan to visit! Tommyknocker Brewery is another good spot, both are located on Miners Road right in their downtown.
The Scenic Byway to Mount Blue Sky climbs over 7,000 feet in its 28-mile length, reaching an altitude of 14,130' feet. Idaho Springs serves as the starting point to the byway and is about a 45 minute drive without stops. The road is narrow and steep. Take a short walk to the top of your first 14er! Overlook spectacular views of the continental divide, alpine lakes and glacier valleys. Reservation tickets are required for entry and must be purchased ahead of time. They do not sell tickets at the welcome station and there is no cell service at the top.
