One day I over heard my dad talking about a young man that was interested in training bird dogs. He met this young man through a mutual friend and he was happy to see someone from the younger generation take an interest in what he loves to do. He told me he gave him one of his old electric dog collars to help him get started. I thought it was nice that my dad wanted to help him but I didn't think twice on the subject again. Some months later, I walked into the Elgin hardware store (where Tanner was working at the time) to buy some candles. Tanner came up to me and asked if I needed help finding anything and then he asked me "Hey, your dad is the one with the awesome lab named Ike isn't he?!" I said "Yes, he is!" That was about all that was said. I didn't even get his name! I am not much on small talk, as you all know. A few months pass and (unknown to me) Tanner brought his lab over to our house to breed with Ike. Another few weeks pass and some friends and I decide to go to a Deryl Dodd concert in Paige, Tx at Papa Woody's. At some point during the night, I look over to see my friend, Heather talking to someone. I go over and recognize him right away from the hardware store! I said "Hey, I know you!" We ended up talking quite a bit that night and it finally dawned on me he was the young man my dad had mentioned helping. The next day Tanner "coincidentally" shows up at my house to pick up his dog, Bugsy. I knew there was no coincidence there but Tanner to this day says it was. We ended up adding each other on Facebook later that day and Tanner asked me to go on a date with him! We've been inseparable ever since.
