Our love story begins long before we ever even met. Officially, Stan and Kaché’s story started in 2016 at The Island School. But if you rewind the tape, you’ll see that God had already started writing their story long before that first “hello”. Back in 2014, Kaché was in Nassau with her parents when her mom spotted a familiar face — Stan’s dad, a well-known Bahamian artist. In true bold fashion, she marched right over to introduce herself. A slightly embarrassed and impatient Kaché stood by, ready to escape — until she overheard something that caught her attention. “Oh, I have a son in Eleuthera,” said Stan’s dad. That one line changed everything. He went on to say his son loved Eleuthera, studied biochem and worked at the Island School. Kaché was intrigued. Eleuthera — her home — check. Biology — her major — check. The Island School — her dream job — check. For a split second, she imagined a life where this guy might just be her person. But then she laughed it off and thought: things like that only happen in movies, right? So at last, Kaché moved on, but never once forgot about that guy at The Island School. Fast forward to 2015. Kaché was finishing her biology degree and diving into her new passion: aquaponics. One meeting led to another, and before she knew it, she was on her way to tour the aquaponics facilities at — you guessed it — The Island School. As she wrapped up her tour, she finally had the courage to ask the question. “Does someone by the name of Stan Burnside work here?” “Yes,” her guide said, “we just passed him on the bridge! Do you want to meet him?” Panic set in! Kaché couldn’t possibly explain how she knew his full government name or why she was asking about him. So at last, she smiled, said no and left — but never once forgot about that guy at The Island School. One year later, in October 2016, Kaché, having just graduated, moved home to Eleuthera, determined to chase her dreams. Within weeks, she landed a job interview at… BAMSI, haha, not, in fact, her dream job! But as fate would have it, the interviewer felt that she aligned more with— yep, that’s right — The Island School. Let’s go Fate, round three! One week later, during her interview at The Island School, as she was led up to Hallig House, she spotted someone perched casually on a counter, laptop open. It was him! She walked in knowing this was the moment she would finally meet that guy she never once forgot about at The Island School. “Kaché, this is Stan Burnside. Stan, this is Kaché Knowles”. And just like that, if we fast forward the tape to March 21, 2026 that guy she never once forgot about at The Island School became her husband.
