Back at the University of Colorado Halloween was a big holiday to celebrate, so we had both gone out to parties dressed to the 9s. We met at a mutual friend's party, I was dressed as Chemical Engineering Barbie and Zach was Captain America with a shield and everything. We hit it off immediately and begun to see each other between classes and breaks in school, which eventually led to dating. To this day Zach's contact information in my phone is "Zach Captain America"!

It's no secret that Zach and I love the exciting side of life. Mountain biking, running, hiking, adopting a puppy. All hair-raisers. We had a ski trip to Vail planned in March of 2018 with 5 close friends joining us. On the third day into the trip, I was beating all the boys down the mountain. It was even snowing a bit as we went off cliffs, down chutes and in some of the hardest terrain at Vail. Around lunchtime we happened to be at the same lift all at the same time (or so I thought it was an accident) and Zach and I were to get on the lift with Chase. All of a sudden, he drops his pole and misses the lift! I was thinking, what a silly thing for him. So going up the lift Zach and I were alone and all I could do was eat a CliffBar and chat about how great I was skiing that day and how proud of myself I was for being all the boys down the mountain. Zach then continued to agree with me but then elaborated on how amazing he thinks I am, how daring, how much he loves me and how he can't wait to spend the rest of his life with me. At that moment I looked over to him realizing what was happening and he was holding the most beautiful engagement ring between his gloved hands. He asked me to marry him and I screamed Yes! When we departed the ski lift, he immediately got down on one knee (still strapped into his snowboard and me in my skis) and put the ring on my finger with a little applause by those around us. A magical day indeed.
