We met through mutual friends at our favorite dive bar, Shanahan's. That night, my friend Emily had texted me and asked to come out for a drink after my evening classes at WSUV. I declined, saying I was tired and just wanted to go home. After a few back and forth texts (and an angry phone call), I finally agreed to come for just ONE drink! It was there that Brad walked in and sat down with us. Few words were exchanged that night, but Brad knew he needed my number. I've always told him the only reason I responded to his text was because he spelled my name right. After about a month of me giving him grief, I agreed to a group date and it was our first date I knew he'd be in my life in some fashion. I had no idea he was going to be my husband!
St. Patrick's Day has always been a time for celebration between us since we met at an Irish Pub. For the past few years, we had visited the St. Patrick's Day celebration at McMenamins' Edgefield. THIS year was a little bit different because of the pandemic. The morning Brad was supposed to propose, the event cancelled last minute. I had NO IDEA his plan was to propose that day so while he was slightly panicking, he played it off and wanted to know if I still wanted to go celebrate even if there wasn't a celebration. I, of course, still wanted to go because we had plans to meet up with some family. When we got there, we sat down for lunch in the main pub and we ordered lunch. Brad BARELY ate. (This should have been my first indication something was up!) After that, we decided to go to the on-site winery and get a glass of wine and take some photos where one of our first pictures were taken together. (Should have been my second, Brad hates pictures!) It was there Brad got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! I was in complete shock and he had to ask a second time before I actually was able to get any words out. We spent the whole day drinking and celebrating our future wedding that will be one to remember!
