We met sophomore year of college in the dorms where Blake was living at the time. We had mutual friends through Blake's fraternity and they started to hang out more frequently within the friend group. Soon enough, we slowly started watching movies/TV shows in the dorm room, going to fraternity parties or having spontaneous union dates. At one point throughout the year, we started to “fake” date and become “fake” fiancés. This is probably when our friends realized that we were going to end up together, before we did. Junior year we became neighbors and our lives just started to intertwine. We were going grocery shopping, hanging out with our mutual friends, and cooking/eating meals together. On October 5, 2018, Blake got a text from one of his WA friends asking if he had "found a girl yet". Blake then proceeded to Snapchat Kacey asking what they were to each other. At that time, we moved forward with the best decision of our lives and made it official… we were boyfriend and girlfriend. Throughout the past 5 years, we have been with each other through many big events and life milestones. We met each other’s families, celebrated multiple holidays, and even graduated college together. The biggest obstacle we had to go through is when Kacey went to PA school in AZ and Blake moved back to WA to start his career in Engineering. We spent two years apart and eagerly traveling to see each other every 6 weeks. Kacey eventually graduated from her program and decided to make the move to be with Blake in WA. We have an amazing apartment, where we have been building our life together.
As some may know every Saturday morning, Kacey and Blake try a new or visit a favorite coffee shop around the Seattle area. This originally started to show Kacey the different areas around Seattle when she first moved up to Washington. On February 4th 2023, they were out at coffee shop in north Seattle and Kacey's exact words were " I am glad we have nothing planned this weekend, we can just relax and hang out". Little did she know that a major life event was planned just 45 minutes later. On their way home, Blake asked if she wanted to go to Kerry Park which overlooks the Seattle skyline. After looking at the view for about 30 seconds, Blake dropped to one knee so fast that the camera man wasn't even expecting it and after a deep breath he asked Kacey "will you spend the rest of your life with me, will you marry me". Fortunately, Kacey said yes and had the ring on her finger so fast that both of them didn't realize they had put it on the wrong hand. As Kacey and Blake began the drive home after the proposal, Kacey was so excited to share the big news with family and friends she started calling people right away. To her surprise her immediate family did not answer any of her calls. Little did she know her family had made the flight from Arizona to Washington that morning and both families were waiting for them at a restaurant just 20 minutes away. The remainder of the weekend was filled with celebrating with friends/family and making the first memories together as a newly engaged couple. It is safe to say it was not a "relaxing weekend" Kacey originally hope for, but one to remember forever.
