What is the process for COVID-19 testing before traveling to Ghana?

Answer

1. You must get a COVID-19 PCR test (not the rapid test) within 72 hours of your departure date to Ghana. Keep record of your test results. You will present this before departing. The test results must be from a laboratory bearing Trusted Travel or BIOMARS codes. Find trusted labs at https://xchange.panabios.org/search/offers/ Sign up for accounts on https://trustedtravel.panabios.org/trusted-testing/dashboard/ with the same e-mail address and mobile numbers provided to laboratories during testing. 2. You must pay $150 for a COVID-19 rapid test which will be performed at Kotoka International Airport in Ghana. Please make the purchase at https://myfrontierhealthcare.com/home/ghana and keep record of the receipt. 3. You must fill out health declaration form: https://www.ghs-hdf.org/hdf/ which you will show receipt on arrival at Kotoka International Airport.

Please review Ghana Embassy website (in DC or New York) for step by step process. Single entry visa is $60, multiple entry visa is $100. Obtaining a visa takes about 10-15 days. Do they accept USD in Ghana?

Answer

Yes, USD are accepted at most commercial businesses, as well as debit and credit cards. Some local business only accept Ghana cedis (cash). Money can be exchanged at the forex bureau at Kotoka International Airport.

How much money should I bring to Ghana?

Answer

At minimum $100-150/day should be sufficient to be comfortable and enjoy tourist sites.
