We don't recommend renting a car. We will have transportation from the airport to the hotels and the hotels to the venue, as well as back to the airport. However, if you come early or stay longer, Mexico City and Tepoztlán are touristic places and have plenty of public transportation via Uber, taxi, metros and subway.
