Happily Ever After

We met at a mutual friend's BBQ neither of us were going to attend. Fortunately, we both decided it would be good to get out of the house that day. Austin had already been there for a little while when I arrived. He was the first person Eevee saw when we walked in and she ran right up to him. The sparks were definitely there when we first saw each other, but both of us wanted to take things slow. We didn't even exchange contact information that day.

As fate would have it, Austin showed up on my Facebook suggested friends list about a week later. I added him as a friend and he immediately struck up a conversation with me. We had our first date at the end of that week and we continued to let things develop naturally until it was obvious that we were absolutely crazy for each other. Fast forward to now and we couldn't be happier. Even our dogs love each other! We have a lovely home and we're so excited to continue building our lives together.

For Austin's birthday, we went on a much needed trip to Galveston. We spent a great day with our dogs at the beach and enjoyed a really fun night walking up and down Seawall Blvd, dropping into a few cool dive bars that we found along the way. We decided to end the night at a beach bar so we moseyed down to a place called Flip-Flops. On the way back to our hotel, the nearly full moon lit the beach up completely and turned the crashing waves into a twinkling marvel. We walked down to the water and stood together watching and listening, letting the cool air blow into our faces. Austin stood behind me, wrapping his arms around me. It was the best ending to a great birthday celebration. After enjoying the beautiful nighttime scene for a while, we started to head back to our dogs waiting for us. It was at this moment Austin began to speak and started to walk around to face me. He got down on one knee as he told me he wanted to be with me forever. It was a complete surprise! He asked me to marry him and I immediately began crying. I couldn't believe he hid his plans from me so well. I said yes (of course!) and we celebrated our amazing, perfect moment.
