Just another day in our forever

It all began in a small high school in Mercedes, Texas. A new kid enrolls at the beginning of the junior year, catching the eye of the prettiest girl in his English class. The two became inseparable, and as their friendship deepened, Jc decided to ask Joanna to be his girlfriend. She said yes. After high school graduation, they began studying at the University of Texas RGV, supporting and pushing each other forward. But life had plans that would pull them apart. Jc moved to Dallas for law school, while Joanna stayed behind to begin her master’s in accounting. Call it a twist of fate — Joanna was soon offered a position in a major accounting firm with the freedom to choose the location of her home base. Without hesitation, she chose Jc. Reunited in Dallas, the two navigated the glamorous new chapter of adulthood with financial challenges, Ikea furniture, and exactly one non stick pan. They learned more about each other through their dish duty debates, and thermostat setting negotiations than any candlelit dinner they ever had. But it was the mundane moments like making their chicken-bean-broccoli-rice-avocado bowls together, that made them realize they were still each other's favorite person to come home to. The pivotal moment occurred in 2023, when Jc enlisted in the United States Army. During his time away, the distance made him reflect on their relationship. He tried focusing on his training and even though that was hard, being apart from Joanna was harder. Everything started to remind him of her—even the disgusting pinto beans. But what he remembered, clearer than ever before, was the thought that crossed his mind the first time he laid eyes on the prettiest girl in his English class— this girl looks like the beginning of my forever. And so, in December 2023, Jc asked Joanna to marry him. She said yes. The rest, is just another day in their forever.
