The Santa Fe Plaza has been the commercial, social and political center of Santa Fe since 1610. Here are a few historical landmarks we recommend visiting to discover the old-world charm of Santa Fe.
Question

What are some historical sites worth visiting?

Answer

Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi - Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Santa Fe, built by Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy between 1869 and 1886. Loretto Chapel - Built in 1873, the centerpiece of the historic Loretto Chapel, is its "miraculous staircase." Neither the identity of its creator nor the type of wood used to construct it are known. But the biggest mystery is the way the staircase was built: it has two 360-degree turns and no visible means of support. Palace of the Governors - Built in 1610, this adobe structure served as the seat of government for New Mexico for centuries and is the oldest continuously occupied public building in the United States. La Fonda on the Plaza - La Fonda’s history can be traced back over 400 years and is the oldest hotel on the Plaza.
