How we met

October 3rd 2017

We had attended the same high school, rode the same bus and connected on facebook but never really talked. Years after we graduated we reconnected. While at my friend's, Kimmy and Sky, I was dancing around acting crazy. Sky snapped a picture and sent it too some of her friends. Minutes later she got a text saying "is that Justine ?" Sky and Kelsie had worked together for sometime and by a simple twist of fate she recognized me and asked about me. She messaged me later that night and we have basically talked every day since.

The Proposal

March 17th 2019

Okay it is important to the story to tell you we had talked about marriage before. It is also important to tell you she had said "maybe in another year or so." This woman had me CONVINCED she was not gonna propose to me until 2020. For weeks before the proposal, I was throwing out comments about how "it was going to be forever" before we were engaged. The day after her birthday we were meeting my family to go to an Escape Room and have lunch to celebrate her birthday. If you have never been to one they are puzzle rooms that you have one hour to figure out how to escape. It has been one of our favorite past times. I can't tell you much about the escape room because they ask you not to reveal any secrets. It was a two part room and it had an space/alien theme. When we reached the second room the ceiling was covered with lights looking like stars. Kelsie found a key to one of the boxes and asked me to hold it while she unlocked it. Now, we get REALLY into these games and trying to escape within the hour. So after she unlocked the box I took off to the next clue. Little did I know that there was another tiny box inside. "Babe" she said and tapped my arm. When I turned around she was on her knee with ring in hand. I was so surprised for a minute all I could say was "What?!" It was the best day of my life to date. She had met with Hunstville Escape Rooms and planned the most wonderful proposal I could ever asked for. I don't use this word alot but it was PERFECT.

Marrying my best friend

Living our best lives

I wasn't looking for her when she found me. Honestly, I didn't think I was ready for her. In the beginning, I told her that a lot. I took my time to let her in completely, she was patient. Eventually, long car rides and conversations turned into blanket forts and dancing around the kitchen. Adventures, breakfast dates, and chasing the sunrise together became a must. We have grown together, we have pushed each other to be our best selves. I feel as though every time I learn another thing about her I also learn about myself. While I know everyday won't be perfect and marriage is hard work, I also know that we only get one life to live and we want to live out the rest of our days together.
