We met on a religion retreat during our sophomore year of high school. We got back and he messaged me on Facebook saying "Hi," I thought nothing of it and ignored it. Fast forward two years to senior year...I walk into religion class to see that same boy I ignored two years ago standing with a group of friends. I couldn't ignore him saying "Hi" now because we were in the same class for the whole semester! One week in September, my friends and I were talking about how excited we were to be going to halloween horror nights that weekend. Joey asked to see my phone for a minute and I gave to it him because I was mid-conversation so obviously I thought nothing of it. Turns out we were both going up the same weekend with our different groups of friends. I saw his number in my phone and decided to text him to see if him and his friends wanted to meet up at horror nights...one thing led to another and he was acting like a scaredy cat the whole time we were there. After that weekend we would talk nonstop all day and all night!
Christmas Eve has to be hands down one of our FAVORITE time of year! The whole family is together, Uncle Mikey cooks the most AMAZING dinner, we play the "Chinese Gift Exchange" game after one to many glasses of wine, so obviously who wouldn't love it! Joey picked Bella and I up from the airport Christmas Eve afternoon, we came home, got ready and headed to Aunt Barbara's house. The whole drive there Joey was telling me how his stomach was upset, so I was pouring Pepto Bismol down his throat to make him feel better so he could enjoy the food!! As the night went on, it was the "kids" turn for the gift exchange game. I was number one, so I picked a blender and was so happy with my pick. Everyone went and two people stole my gift. Joey was number 10 and the last one to go (which is the best number to be), he asked me what he should get or if he should steal...I was only really concerned with getting my blender back! Next thing I knew he picked up a bouquet of flowers from the table and in my head I was thinking how Aunt Barbara was going to be so mad at him for taking that! And then next thing I knew he was on one knee, shaking, asking me if I would spend forever with him...of course I said YES!
