Our first date

May 1, 2018

Justin and Rebecca first met in October 2018 but it was not until after several months of eyeing each other at the gym and making small talk that they went on their first date; you guessed it... golfing! Rebecca had mentioned to Justin in their months of small talk that she also enjoyed playing golf; which unbeknownst to him meant she had simply played a couple times before. So on May 1, 2018 Rebecca agreed to play golf with Justin and simply prayed she could manage to not make a complete fool of herself! Justin picked her up and off they went. Throughout the round they talked and laughed getting to know one another and enjoying each others company. On the fifth hole, a 175 yard par 3, Rebecca lined up her tee shot and landed it on the green! She promptly sunk the downhill hooking putt from 20 feet and it was this moment Justin knew he had the woman of his dreams! They haven't stopped enjoying one another since that day!

The proposal

June 8, 2019

Justin knew Rebecca was the one. Now he had to make plans to pop the question. He did some investigating of Rebecca's Pinterest page, which included hundreds or maybe even thousands of pins, and figured out what kind of ring she would love, and a handful of rules to asking her to marry him. On an Easter trip to her hometown he was able to get her parents blessing crossing off rule #1. Next he picked out when he would do it and he bought the ring. He planned on doing it the day after his residency graduation when their parents would be in town, friends would be around, and it would be an easy disguise to make sure she had her nails done which crossed off the next rule. On June 8th, 2019, Justin planned a golf outing for their parents and close friends, meaning plenty of people around to catch it on camera, marking off the next rule. After a lovely front nine, in which a very nervous Justin somehow managed to shoot 38, they made their way to the 10th tee box. Cameras were ready and everybody was in position. Justin tricked Rebecca into walking to the tee box "to video his swing" and in front of Manakiki's beautiful clubhouse, Justin began to tell Rebecca how much she meant to him and how much he loved her. He could barely manage to hold back his emotions enough to get words out. He knelt down on one knee, used her full name, and completely surprised her by asking her to marry him, thus completing the final checkmarks on her list. She said "YES!" and they were able to celebrate! Since that day they have continued to love one another and grow together very happily. That moment was shared with a small group but now they will be able to celebrate their wedding with all of their closest family and friends.
