On October 10, 2020 -- seven months into the global pandemic -- my college roommates and I planned a girls weekend trip to JMU. We had plans to pick up some food from our favorite restaurants, make some cocktails, get our nails done, and lay low. We, of course, had to make a pit stop on campus. We parked at the performing arts center, which is located on Main Street right across from the quad. The four of us walked through the tunnel under Main Street and onto the quad. I was told to take my mask off, which I wasn't interested in doing because I didn't want to get in trouble. After some more insisting, I took off my mask and was told to "go over there" despite my roommates walking in the opposite direction. Even though I was confused, I obliged. I turned to see Justin standing there. I was in utter and complete shock. "This is a girls weekend?" was my first thought. Overwhelmed with emotion, I realized what was happening. Justin got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! I turned around to people cheering -- some current students who were simply passing by and a small group of our best friends. Justin had arranged for a handful of our closest friends to be there to celebrate, along with our pup, Rosie! Everything worked out according to Justin's well-organized, coordinated plan and I could not be more grateful. Now, it's time for the big (post-pandemic) celebration!
