Arlanda International Airport is halfway between Uppsala to the north and Stockholm to the south.

Getting to Uppsala

Trains run at very regular intervals from Arlanda to the Uppsala Central Station downtown. Tickets can be purchased at the station directly adjacent to the airport. Car rental is also available. Uppsala is about a 30 minute drive from Arlanda International Airport. Buses also run between Arlanda and Uppsala.

Getting around Uppsala

Buses run every 15 minutes from most stations. Tickets can be purchased at the central station or directly on the bus. Simply ask the driver for a ticket, and use your American payment card in the onboard machine. Bus tickets cost about $3, and can be re-used for transfers for the next 1.5 hours. Bikes can be rented from a variety of vendors downtown. Bike parking is everywhere, and bike paths lead all over town. Be mindful that most paths are divided into bike and pedestrian zones. Walking around downtown Uppsala is easy and pleasant, especially in the summer. Drivers are respectful of pedestrians and crosswalks follow American rules
