Mardi Gras season will be in full swing by wedding weekend, and there will be tons of fun parades and Cajun/Creole music and cuisine all around the Shreveport/Bossier area. Shreveport is not like New Orleans, so the majority of parades are more family-oriented and kid-friendly.
Though during the winter the grounds won’t be as beautiful as they get a couple months after the wedding, if you like art and history this is a good place to check out. And it’s free! (Also no, we don't own this property!)
For any and all out of town guests looking to experience some real Louisiana cuisine, this is your place!
Absolutely loved this place as a kid. They have great exhibits and IMAX films! Go to Sci-Port if you would like to give your kids (and yourself, too!) a blast for a few hours.
Outdoor mall fully equipped with a movie theatre, restaurants, stores, and a beautiful view of the Red River overlooking downtown Shreveport.
Art deco museum with paintings, frescoes & dioramas, plus a gallery with Native American artifacts. Great for kids; neat displays. The building is shaped like a circle with a beautiful fountain in the courtyard in the center.
THE best donuts you’ll ever eat, and this is their original location. Their donuts are hot at 4 pm daily!
Family owned restaurant. Super good burgers with freshly ground meat and homemade buns
Posados has always been my all time favorite Tex-Mex restaurant, and not just because they serve burgers (which I loved before I figured out that I also love fajitas), but because of the unique decor all around the top of the restaurant. It’s made to look like an old Tejas saloon. And don’t forget to grab your free ice cream on the way out!
Yummy Greek food!
So good. They even have a "Sweep the kitchen" pizza option with everything on it.
Sometimes I come here just for the frozen yogurt, which is special because it's a lot more tart than sweet. For your meal I would recommend the hot meat melt with ham!
