Asian fusion. This is where Kelsey and Justin had their first date on 1/27/23 and celebrated their one year anniversary a year later. Try the duck nachos or the coconut bread pudding.
Upscale Mexican restaurant. Try the chorizo meatloaf and the seasonal guacamole. The magaritas are also top notch! They do not take reservations so we recommend going early. House of Found Objects is a great bar two doors down that is a great place to wait for your table.
This is a great place for Sushi and Fresh Gulf Seafood. They are owned by Harbor Docks out of Destin, FL and bring in fresh seafood daily. Make sure to Google their secret sushi menu as those are our go-to's. This location is not downtown, but actually next to the church.
A very casual, but outstanding, local spot for Italian. Must try their pizzas, pastas, and brunch (try the French Toast and the Breakfast Pasta!).
This is our go to for BBQ in Birmingham. If you are not in the mood for classics such as pork, smoked chicken w/ Alabama White Sauce, or smoked chicken thighs, try their burgers and the Sweat Tea Chicken Sandwich. The Pork Skins with Pimento Cheese/Pepper Jelly is a must for an appetizer.
This is a great place for Nashville Hot Chicken! If you are the bravest of the brave try the "Shut the Cluck Up" heat level. For reference we normally get Mild or Medium (if we are being brave). Try the Grits or Pimento Mac N' Cheese as a side.
Our favorite go to for unique pizza: Detroit Style. Try the The Prince (meat lovers) or Buffalo Bill. Make sure to get extra sauce (as the sauce goes on top), a side of Hot Honey, and a Cinnamon Roll for dessert! There is a brick and mortar location in Hoover, but there is also one food truck at Hop City Brewery and a second food truck that travels around the area. Find Uncle G's on Instagram for their weekly schedule.
Our absolute favorite for dessert! Big Spoon has two locations (Avondale and Homewood) and makes great homemade artisan ice cream!
Excellent tequila bar. Kelsey’s pick: Figgly Wiggly or Blackberry Margarita. Justin’s pick: Don’t tell a sol
Fun tiki bar with great drinks.
Mexico City themed bar with excellent cocktails and a unique atmosphere.
Very unique bar with excellent cocktails. Perfect for a drink while you wait for a table at a nearby restaurant such as El Barrio.
The Vulcan statue is the largest cast iron statue in the world, and is the city symbol of Birmingham, reflecting its roots in the iron and steel industry. The statue depicts the Roman god Vulcan, god of the fire and forge, with ironworking equipment. It was created as Birmingham's entry for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (1904 World's Fair) in St. Louis, Missouri. The park not only offers great views of the statue but of downtown Birmingham.
Birmingham is well-known for its place in the Civil Rights movement. The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, part of the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is a cultural and educational research center that promotes a comprehensive understanding for the significance of civil rights developments in Birmingham. Make sure to check out the 16th Street Baptist Church which is adjacent to the Civil Rights Institute.
The Birmingham Zoo is a great place to take children and is located in Mountain Brook which is a delightful suburb of Birmingham with many great local shops and restaurants.
