At first, we both joked that we didn’t have a cute “first time meeting” story. But as time went on, we realized just how special our beginning truly was. We met online and instantly clicked, discovering how much we had in common, how similar our humour was, and how competitive we both were with iPhone games. We planned our first date for a Wednesday evening, but one night we stayed up talking until 4 a.m, and playing far too much 8 Ball Pool. By the end of that marathon conversation, it felt wrong to wait any longer, so we moved our date up to Monday. We decided to meet halfway at the beautiful establishment of Shoeless Joe’s for dinner, drinks, and plenty of competitive pool (I won, of course, although Kait will try to tell you otherwise so don't listen to her). Afterward, we went to see Black Panther 2, but we only made it about five minutes into the movie before realizing movies on first dates are stupid and we’d rather talk. So instead, we drove around Burlington for hours, just talking and getting to know each other until it was finally time to call it a night. The date went so well that we kept our original plan and met again on Wednesday. Two weeks later, we officially started dating, and the rest is history! We’ve always believed that experiences matter more than things. One of my favourite things about our relationship is that we’d choose an adventure over a gift any day. From weekend getaways to Blue Mountain where Kait almost met her fate on the slopes; to going to Jamaica and climbing a waterfall on an excursion we both thought was just a party boat; to exploring BC and showing Kait the island; relaxing under the Florida sun; getting engaged in Portugal while Kait and the Aguiar's introduced me to the true Portuguese way of life; and of course, Kait dragging me to countless Edmonton games in cities all over… These moments are only the beginning. We can’t wait to keep exploring new places and creating even more memories together.
