How We Met

A girl walks into a bar...

Jazlyn - 4 years ago I walked into a bar and saw a guy across the room wearing gym clothes and eating a lettuce wrapped burger. He kept looking at me so I kept walking by him in hopes of sparking conversation. Didn’t work....so I sent the bartender over to him to plant the seed. We ended up talking that night for 3 hours about food, dogs, and working out. I gave him my number that night. We had our first date wearing sweatpants, eating frozen yogurt, and watching the Seahawks game. It’s been an amazing adventure with him ever since! Justin - It was a Saturday night, and I was out with a couple buddies after we just left the gym to get burgers and beer. We were seated at a table across from the bar and I looked up and there were three girls sitting at the bar. I immediately told my buddies that she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen but just figured someone that good looking already had a boyfriend. She kept walking by making eye contact with me, but I kept on eating until finally the bartender came over and told me she wanted us to follow them over to the bar next door. I said why not, went over to meet her, and we talked for hours until the bar closed. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history, we’ll see you June 5th.

The Proposal

The Great Gatsby - 10/23/20

Ever since I met Jazlyn, she always talked about how much she loved the Great Gatsby movie and how she had always wanted to go to a Roaring 20’s themed party someday. So, I figured this was my chance to really show her how much I love her, and that I’ve actually listened a little bit over the past four years. I searched for months for a rental property that could host such an event, I really wanted a castle, but no one wanted to risk having that many people in one place with the state restrictions in place. Luckily, her godmother Dawn was willing to allow me to host the party at her house. We created a fake invitation for Jazlyn to think the party was just a normal themed Halloween party, while everyone else got the real one. This was really the only stressful part of all of the planning because anyone could have slipped up and ruined the surprise. The week of the proposal came, and we were at Dawn’s everyday hanging lights, setting up tables, etc.; some days Jazlyn even came to help set up for her own surprise proposal! The morning of, I started really laying it on thick with the hints by playing wedding songs all morning, but I am my own worst enemy because I am absolutely terrible at keeping secrets, so I tried to keep my distance and downplay any excitement for the upcoming party. Once we got ready and left the house, we had to stop for ice just to make an excuse for us to enter the house through different entrances without her being suspicious. I got into position, she was introduced, and now we are engaged waiting for the wedding! Special shoutout to Dawn and Letty for helping coordinate everything and allowing me to use your house, this all went so smooth because of you guys!
