Providence is an artsy, diverse, food capital in the northeast. Known for it's unique Italian district (Federal Hill) there is no shortage of restaurants, breweries and more to visit during your stay. These are some of our favorites! Restaurants, Bars and Breweries: Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante (Italian market and restaurant with outdoor seating) Pastiche (great little bakery) Patio on Broadway (fun west side spot) Julians (great for brunch!) Al Forno (fancy grilled pizza, unique to RI) East End (best espresso martinis in the city) Lucky Enough (Chicago bar on the west side) Ivy Tavern (best burgers in the city) NY System (try the wieners all the way with coffee milk) Pizza Marvin (James Beard winner) The Guild Beer Garden (right by the river) Narragansett Brewery (the famous Gansett, right next to the Hilton Garden Inn) Sights: Brown University (nestled on the east side) Pedestrian Bridge (great views of the city) Waterfire (check the schedule to see if it's going on!)
Justin is from here! The Hill and Harbor city, it has a quaint main street right on the water Restaurants and Bars: Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar (fantastic seafood) Chelo's on the Water (seafood at a marina by the water, try the stuffies) Blu on the Water (seafood, also at a marina, also by the water) Providence Oyster Bar The Oaks (the best dive bar around) Kai Bar (tiki bar) Main Street Coffee (coffee during the day, bar at night)
Newport is a classic RI city with shops, mansions and restaurants - and the rest of southern RI has plenty to offer. It's a bit of a hike from Providence (45 whole minutes to the other side of the state) but if you have time to kill, it's worth a trip down south Restaurants and Bars: Giusto (Italian) Midtown Oyster Bar Matunuck Oyster Bar Pasquales Pizza (voted a top 20 pizza place in the US) Apple cider donuts in Jamestown Sights: Bellevue mansions Cliffwalk Narragansett beach Beavertail lighthouse
Boston is absolutely bustling with history. It is a bit of a trek from Providence - about an hour without any traffic, but if you're spending some extra time and have never been it's definitely worth the trip. Restaurants, Bars and Brewerys: The North End (cool Italian district) Regina Pizzeria (great pizza) Daily Catch (two locations, both great seafood) Trillium Brewery Treehouse Brewery (not actually in Boston, about 30 minutes outside of it, but one of the best in the country) Sights: Harvard's campus (technically Cambridge, but worth seeing) Walk the Charles River Freedom Trail (great history tour) Fenway Park (if the Sox are in town!) Get lost! (explore the city, Boston is extremely walkable)
