Justin and I had our first date at Liberty Hound at Canalside. I parked on the Cobblestone Road adjacent to the bridge. I was on crutches from a broken foot. While crossing the bridge, Justin and I met at the halfway point. He helped me into the restaurant and to a table on the back landing. We sat, drank, enjoyed the beautiful summer evening, and talked the night away. I confidently knew that night that Justin was someone special <3
In 1825, history was made when Buffalo became the Western Terminus of the Erie Canal. Fast forward to November 10, 2018, history was made again, when Justin proposed to me on the bridge of our first date. We took the subway from our (new historic fixer-upper Victorian) home. The wind was blowing and the air was cold but our hearts were warmed when he stopped me in the middle of the bridge and knelt on one knee. He invited family and friends to celebrate with us. It was a whirlwind of love on that intimate afternoon.
Beau Fleuve ... translates to Beautiful River. There is a legend that Buffalo received its name when the French would say, "Beau Fleuve" and people thought that they were saying Buffalo. (Buffalo's top historians have insignificant proof that this story is true, hence legend, but it is a fun story) We invite you to dance under the stars with us on the beautiful Buffalo River after we convene a ceremony on the infamous Canal that not only put Buffalo on the map but also started our love story.
