We crossed paths at the University of New Mexico where we both went to play soccer after high school. Justin was a freshman goalkeeper for the men's team when Channing went on her official visit during her senior year of high school. Her host was taking the girls around to meet players from from each team when Channing happened to notice Justin slyly walk through his dorm room and he immediately caught her eye. Channing remembers immediately texting her friend Danielle to tell her that she had just seen the "best looking guy ever" and it made the excitement of college just that much better. We probably officially met at a party or team function once Channing arrived in Albuquerque to start her freshman year. However, throughout the next two years we both remained casual acquaintances. Not much more than seeing each other in the training room, going to support each other's teams, doing homework in study hall, and running into each other occasionally at a party- life just seemed to carry on for us both. Only a select few of our closest friends knew about our crushes. Until one evening at a party just a week before we were about to move to opposite ends of the country, we somehow had the courage to spill the beans to each other and confessed that we had secret crushes on each other for quite some time. We spent hours and hours that night talking about anything and everything. It was pretty remarkable and I am pretty sure we both walked away from that night asking, "Did that really just happen?!"

Since that night in 2011, our story has had many of adventurous chapters that have all come together so beautifully in ways that we could not have imagined or planned. After a long time of knowing that we wanted to get married, it was now just a matter of when Justin was going to pop the question. For months, Justin was sending Channing on little rabbit trails of when the big day might be. Let's just say that his plan worked and she was ready to receive the biggest surprise ever. Justin planned to make the proposal a family affair. Both his and Channing's parents flew into LA the day before he was to present her with an unforgettable night. Completely unaware, Channing believed that she would be accompanying Justin to a work event that evening. He had to think of something that would give him a good enough reason to be nervous, so he could hide the big surprise. Justin rented an Airbnb, and told Channing that it was his boss's house and that they would all be riding to the work event together. Upon arrival, the two made their way towards the house where candles outlined the front porch, with a card and bouquet of flowers awaiting her. Completely caught off guard, Channing practically started hyper-ventilating when she realized what was about to happen. Justin proceeded to get down on one knee where he would ask her to marry him on January 27th, 2018 in Venice, California. But the night doesn't end here...Just on the other side of the front door stood Channing and Justin's parents as well as her entire extended family and close friends. After she was instructed to knock, her parents opened the door and that's when things got even more emotional. Tears people, we're talking tears for days. Once the floodgates closed, we spent the evening eating, drinking and celebrating the beginning of a beautiful new chapter!
