We met at PBA during my freshman semester while he was a junior and the RA of the guys in my dorm. I was the "raging feminist" (or so he thought) and he was the biology nerd, but one Sunday he asked me to ride to church with him on the back of his moped... and the rest is history!
Justin proposed on the day after Thanksgiving; it was a couple of days before our one-year anniversary. He set up his GoPro inside our car that morning because he said he wanted to practice using it for future vlogging. After we went Black Friday shopping in the morning, I got in the car and he told me to look around for a hidden note. I found one that said we were going to celebrate our anniversary early since we were going to be busy on the actual day. The note said we were going to a restaurant that would bring back memories. We drove to the surprise location and had a great lunch at a Shwarma place which is a type of food we loved to eat when we were in Malaysia. After lunch we got back in the car and he told me to look for another hidden note. This one said to "saddle up" because we were going somewhere a bit of a ways away. We eventually got to a beautiful horse ranch that offered horse-back trail rides. I love horse-back riding, so this was a great treat! We took off on a private trail ride and saw some really neat wildlife along our way. Near the end of our ride, we pulled our horses up to a picnic table underneath a large oak tree, and we dismounted. Justin ran behind a nearby tree in excitement and came back holding what seemed to be a lizard or cool insect he had found. He got down on one knee and opened his hands to reveal a gorgeous ring. He said some sweet words and asked if I would marry him. Of course, I said yes! He had planned it all, down to using his GoPro to film our trail ride, getting our trail guide to take pictures of the proposal, and even having my mom and sister take me out to get our nails done a couple days prior. His thoughtfulness made it a wonderful day and beginning of our engagement!
