What actor played the best Batman? Michael Keaton? Christian Bale? Somehow this was the small talk that accompanied our first conversation in a food line at a church event! Both, truly more interested in the question, "What does God have in store for my life?" rather than the Batman conundrum, we found ourselves at Substance Church in 2018 where we met. After a few more quick witted conversations, and somehow learning that we both liked grilled cheese on Facebook, we begin bantering back and forth thru texts. Slowly, we started to pursue one another until finally, we set up a first date (we all know who asked out who first 😜) After that date, it was decided we would just be friends. However, God's timing is perfect and though we couldn’t see it at the time, He had a plan to bring us together. In the time following, we did just that, we became friends, really great friends. We were able to build our friendship first, while growing in God individually. We found ourselves spending one on one time together, without knowing our friendship would move into a deeper relationship. But there's a saying out there, "stranger things have happened". And it did for us. In the form of Netflix, that is. With each progressive episode of "Stranger Things" that we watched together, we found another reason to hang out. But eventually we exhausted all the episodes of the TV show, and so Justin decided he would make a bold move in asking Ashley out to dinner. Ashley, though hard to believe, seemed to be at a loss for words. But the next thing we knew, we were on our second, "first date" at a frozen Minnehaha falls in January. With all the ice on the paths, Justin saw an opportune moment, nonchalantly saying, "With all this ice on the path, you better hold my hand in case you slip" as he reached out with an "excuse" to hold hands ;) From then on, the rest is history. From cozying up during a pandemic, to family trips, we’re ready to say I do! We cannot wait to celebrate with you ALL!
