Our story began in the most unexpected way, a quiet moment on Grade 10 textbook collection day in early 2016. I remember looking up and meeting his eyes across the room, just for a second, not knowing that tiny moment would become the beginning of our forever. Later that afternoon, a message appeared on my phone: “Hey, comin’ to Chanel aye.” I replied, “Yes, very nervous… but how did you know it was me?” He told me he’d mentioned to his friends that a new girl was starting in Year 10, one of them sent him a photo, and he immediately said, “Yep, that’s her.” From that day, our friendship grew effortlessly. We became each other’s favourite person to talk to, laugh with, and share all the little moments that meant the most. It wasn’t until the 23rd of June 2017, on a trampoline of all places, that he asked me to be his girlfriend, a moment just as sweet, simple and spontaneous as us. We’ve grown together ever since, from two teenagers finding their way, to two people choosing each other through every chapter. Our love has followed us through every season of life, becoming stronger, softer, and more certain with time. In 2019, we bought our first little home, the place where we learned to grow together, fell into our own rhythm, and began shaping the life we dreamed of. Then, on the 22nd of May 2023, our world changed forever when we welcomed our beautiful son, Henry, the day our hearts grew bigger than we ever knew they could. Just a few months later, on the 23rd of September 2023, he asked me to marry him, fittingly, at the island, Justin’s favourite place. I had a feeling he might propose that weekend; in fact, I was so suspicious that I even patted down the gun case, knowing it was where he would hide something important. Clearly, I didn’t check very thoroughly, because the ring box was indeed inside the gun case the entire time. Now, as we plan our wedding, we are also building our forever home, a place we have envisioned for years, where Henry will grow up and where we will continue creating our family’s story. What began as a simple glance has become a shared life, a family, and a love that continues to grow with us.
