We got engaged Christmas morning 2024. Justin did the sweetest way possible with just the boys and I in the quiet of Christmas morning, right by the tree. I looked at the boys after he asked me and I said "I don't know boys, should we marry Justin?" They both screamed "yesssss!" and here we are. There's more to that story but we will save that for another day. We have spent the last couple of years renovating J's family farmhouse, anyone that has driven by is constantly like "holy shit what are you doing now?" We've gutted and redone the kitchen, put in all new floors through the house, built a beautiful fireplace and entertainment center. We've redone all the upstairs bedrooms, demoed a spare bedroom, redid the upstairs ceiling, painted every wall (a couple times). Installed new windows and siding, just finished a 500 linear foot fence install and are in the middle of a master suite addition! With more plans in the works of course! So, in the last 9 months there hasn't been much wedding planning, we hadn't set a date and we hadn't even really talked about it. We were busy taxiing kids to sports, working non stop, renovating the house, swinging some golf clubs, planning trips to Baltimore, just enjoying life together. Then, in the heat of the busiest season at work and while literally digging the foundation I said the words "I want a dreamy winter wedding but I don't want to wait till next year" so in typical Alyshia fashion, I planned a wedding in about 6 days. Anyone that knows me, you know I don't do things small or easy. I love a good DIY and a challenge. While we know it's short notice and it's New Years Eve we hope you will join us in finally making this thing official! Most of us are busy parents juggling work and kids. Our typical NYE is sitting on the couch trying to stay awake until the ball drops just to say "happy new year" give a quick kiss and shuffle the kids to bed at 12:01. So, I'm giving you an excuse to dust off your heels, get a sitter, drink a bunch of coffee and kick off the new year with us as a finally married couple! We can't wait to celebrate with our people!
