Brooke and Justin met for the first time at an event for a Campus Ministry Freshman outreach group at Notre Dame. As Brooke always says, she seems to have done a little too good of a job reaching out, because they went on their first date that same year after spending hours together on a spring break mission trip doing construction, serving at-risk youth, and singing together during impromptu jam sessions (see title). Highlights of their first year together include pulling an all-nighter for fun, exploring Buenos Aires, walking from Zahm to Pangborn, eating Froyo together in South Dining Hall, going to a number of dances including Zormal and a 24 hour dance marathon, and doing months and months and months and months of long distance (less fun). Justin proposed on October 25th 2018, when the couple flew out to San Diego for the weekend to visit Brooke's family and attend the Notre Dame vs. Navy football game. Justin wrote and sang an original song to Brooke professing his love, and almost IMMEDIATELY after he asked for her hand in marriage, she gave an emphatic yes. Unbeknownst to Brooke, Justin had coordinated among both families to celebrate the moment, and thus many family members and friends were present for the joyful weekend. Justin and Brooke are tremendously grateful, beyond words, for the love and support that has already been poured out on them by so many. They look forward to celebrating the big day in less than a year!
