Question

Where will the ceremony/reception take place?

Answer

All events of the day will take place at Annsfield Estate… no need for traveling offsite once you arrive! Weather permitted, our ceremony will be in a wooded/grassy area so please be mindful of this with shoes/attire. If you need assistance, there will be a golf cart to assist those from the parking lot to the ceremony and back. If weather is not favorable, we will plan to be inside or in the reception area under cover. The reception will also be on site within a covered reception hall. Please be aware that this will still be open to the outside during early November. There will be heat lamps but jackets or sweaters may be good to bring along :) Of note, the highway off of the venue can be busy at times. We plan to have signs to help traffic, but please be extra cautious pulling into and out of the venue, especially at night time!

Question

Where can I stay? I saw accommodations online but I don’t know what is available.

Answer

There are rooms and accommodations available at the venue! However, we have a lot of out-of-town wedding party members and immediate family, so some rooms might not be available. Unfortunately, many of the local hotels have limited availability due to local events. However there are many great AirBnB options nearby. You can even consider renting a house with other guests to minimize cost - we are happy to help coordinate this as well. There will also be parking space available on site for camping trailers, RVs, or tents! We kindly ask that you give us a heads up if you plan to bring any camping equipment so we can plan accordingly. Please contact either Justin or Terra as early as possible if you need help finding a location or if you have specific questions regarding overnight stays!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please send your RSVP by October 12, 2024. If you cannot make it, we will miss you, but would appreciate you letting us know as soon as possible. We will need to gather final head counts for our vendors at this time, so unfortunately, if we do not hear back from you by this date, we may not be able to accommodate your attendance at the wedding.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code is dressy casual to black tie optional. This means that things like cocktail dresses or dress shirts/slacks will work great. Floor-length dresses and suits with ties or tuxes are also welcome. No jeans, please! Weather permitted, the ceremony will take place outside in a semi-wooded area. There will be grass to walk on so please keep this in mind with choice of shoes! The reception will also primarily be outside although there will be heat lamps and the ability to enclose the space. Please feel free to bring sunglasses, jackets or sweaters, or anything else you might need to be comfortable.

Question

Since there will be alcohol, what should I do about getting home?

Answer

We absolutely do NOT want anyone drinking and driving. Our venue is rented throughout the weekend, so you are able to leave cars in the parking lot and pick them up the following day before noon on Sunday. If you plan to partake, we strongly encourage you to make arrangements ahead of time and are happy to help you do so. If you find yourself in a bind the night of, please find either Justin or Terra and we will make sure you have a safe place to stay/safe ride home.

Question

How will people be seated?

Answer

For the ceremony, you can sit wherever you like! For the reception/dinner, we have masterfully arranged tables so guests may be seated with their plus ones and/or other familiar faces. We are happy to include many different family members and friends in our wedding but hope to ease any anxieties by seating friendly faces together as best as possible. We also hope that once the party starts, we can all meet up on the dance floor!

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Although we love your little ones, we have decided to keep the wedding and reception as an adults-only event with the exception of children in our immediate families and children within/of the wedding party. We encourage you to use this time as a fun date night!

Question

Oh no! I’m running late to the ceremony. What should I do?

Answer

If you are late for the ceremony, no worries at all! Our planned start time is 3 p.m., and the ceremony will start promptly at 3:30 p.m. We recommend aiming to get there by 3:00 - 3:15 p.m. so you have enough time to park, say hello to other guests, and find a seat. However, we ask that if you are running late and will not be in your seat at 3:30 p.m. to please remain near the reception area. We will be excited to see you at the reception, but we want to minimize distractions during the ceremony! Thank you for understanding.

Question

What happened with changing the date?

Answer

Initially, we had planned to get married in October 2023, but life was happening faster than we could keep up. We still were able to get legally married on October 20, 2023 (our five-year dating anniversary) in our hometown. In order to have the best time ever at the ceremony, we decided to push it back a year and give ourselves time to enjoy the process but still get to celebrate with a wedding. We are appreciative of everyone’s understanding and have been so excited to celebrate with you all!

Question

Will Terra take Justin’s last name? Is there any hyphenation? What’s going on?

Answer

Legally, Terra and Justin have chosen to both keep their own last names, without any hyphenating. But socially they can still be referred to as “The Shirks” ☺️
