This beautiful love story begins in 2014 when Justin and Melissa both began their aspiring careers at Nike. Justin at University Village and Mel at Niketown Seattle. The two also attended the University of Washington together and even shared a biology class. Mel would recall seeing the dashing man with the Taeyang (from Big Bang – a kpop group) haircut in lecture - the few times he bothered to show up. Their paths however would not officially cross until the summer of 2014, when their mutual friends decided to meet at a music festival. Mel was introduced to Justin but couldn’t remember his name as she was being introduced to too many people at the time. Also being overwhelmed by the amount of people he was meeting, Justin wouldn’t recall this encounter until after they had started dating. As fate would allow it, the two would continue to cross paths multiple times as the summer progressed; Justin began taking shifts at Nike Seattle, they both would pace Nike running events, and the two would even run into each other at renowned night bar 95 Slide. In 2015, Nike hosted 5K running events with Kevin Hart across the country; both, Justin and Mel, volunteered to work the Portland and Seattle events. Through this shared experience, their “friendship” grew and blossomed. This was around the time where Justin began to grow a crush for his dear “朋友 (pang yao)”. Months later, they found themselves running into each other once more at a 2016 NYE event. With the right timing in both their lives, they said, "hello, nice to see you again,” and began dancing with one another and spent the final/beginning hours of the year together.
