Grady first met Nikki when she was sweeping the floors on the set of the Independent Film "The Clear". Grady was the lead actor and Nikki was a Production Assistant trying to gain film experience for her graduate school resume. He was all business at first, but after being trapped together in the basement/green room they found themselves talking for hours about sports, movies, martial arts, Cape Cod, and their pups. It wasn't until six months later that they saw each other again when Grady drove through a snowstorm to visit Nikki in Boston. That act of chivalry was duly noted and they started dating shortly after. They lived about an hour apart and would see eachother on weekends - alternating between the invigorating Boston cityscape and quiet days spent by the Deerfield river. After only a few months of dating Nikki received her acceptance letter to UCLA's graduate Producer's Program. The relationship was young and they had only been seeing eachother occasionally on weekends. But even at that early stage, they knew it was something special... so after only six months of dating they decided to take a road trip out to Los Angeles. They realized that being trapped in a car together for two weeks would be a great compatibility test - it could either be the start of an amazing adventure or could end with Grady catching the first flight out of LA after the whole ordeal. Fortunately it ended up being the former. They're now going on year seven in LA, and have had a variety of industry jobs, several movies under their belts, three apartments, two cars and one adorable puppy named Chewy. They can't imagine having gone on this journey with anyone else and look forward to the many adventures that married life will bring.
Grady had hoped to propose on their annual vacation to Martha's Vineyard with Nikki's family, but that plan was quickly kaboshed when the ring did not arrive in time. Instead, Nikki was forced to suffer for weeks wondering if every romantic outing would end in a proposal. Grady finally popped the question on a weekend camping trip to Bishop, CA. They went on a hike down to Rainbow Falls in Mammoth Lakes, a gorgeous waterfall that was littered with leaf peeping tourists. Grady took them further downstream where they found an opening to go off trail. They stumbled upon the perfect spot, with a fallen tree at the base of the waterfall. Grady suggested Nikki and Chewy set up a little picnic on the fallen tree while he sneakily set up a camera to record the whole thing. Chewy chased chipmunks while Grady got down on one knee and asked Nikki to marry him. Now almost exactly one year later - we are so excited to celebrate the next chapter of our lives with you! See you in Massachusetts!
