Steph moved to South Florida in January 2017 and Nick in June. We each only knew a couple people down here and it just happened to be some of the same people. Meeting only one week after Nick moved down, we only said a few words to each other for the first couple months. On Nick's birthday, we ran into each other once again and something that night sparked a romance. (Steph gave Nick a look he couldn't forget as she was leaving for the night). We immediately starting talking and then came Hurricane Irma a few weeks later. Never even meeting Steph's mom and stepdad, Nick was invited to join them to go to Nashville to escape the devastating hurricane. Nick came into the house with his bags packed ready to meet his future in-laws and head to Nashville for the ride out of harms way. Who would have thought a deadly hurricane would have been the beginning of the rest of ours lives.
Just your typical boat day with Katie, Brandon, and his family down in SW Florida. What Steph didn't know was that Nick had a plan for that day. With the help of Brandon's Mom Beki, Nick was able to pull off the ultimate surprise. As we hit the beach in Boca Grande, it was time to set up a "picnic on the beach". As Nick, Brandon, and Katie distracted Steph with small talk, Beki and Brandon's cousin set up the proposal site around the corner. It was "lunch time" and we headed towards the corner. Steph was growing suspicious as we were separating from the group to go have "lunch" around the corner, no where near where we docked. She noticed Nick, Katie, and Brandon acting strange. Nick was quiet and Katie was trying to get Steph to put her bathing suit cover on. Finally we made it to the "picnic" site. Nick took Steph to where Beki had set up a large heart made from seashells and rose petals scattered in the heart. There was a bouquet of roses set up on a rock with a small box. Nick then asked Steph to marry him. Thankfully, she said yes!!!
