Courtney and I met, working at a sandwich shop in Lubbock. I remember it vividly, I came in refreshed from my lunch break, spending 7 bucks at the local Dunkin, with a bacon egg and cheese in one hand, and a large iced in the other. her first words to me were, "ew Dunkin'?", I was rattled. Unbeknownst to me, Dunkin' Donuts is not good down south. I had beef with Courtney for a few weeks after that, until I received enough wrong orders from Dunkin to agree. We began talking as friends and she invited me to her friends wedding in Colorado. I hadn't taken many trips out of state since moving down to Texas, and this trip turned out to be amazing. We just sort of gravitated to each other, our energies meshed. Soon I began spending more time at her house. She shared the space with her son Aries (who at the time was 5). He and I would spend many days throwing the football and watching sports. I loved being a mentor and a friend to him. I got into an ATV accident with a friend, and it left my foot pretty badly broken. I was immobilized and had to relearn how to walk on my right foot. Courtney went full blown nurse mode, elevating my foot, icing it and taking care of me with her wonderful food and care. Within a few months I must've gained 20 lbs, and a full heart, that's how I knew I loved her. I would say I think she still acts as a nurse to me but instead of broken bones she heals my heart.
