Roll back the clock to 2008, when we first met at church. After knowing each other for a while, Ahna finally got the courage to express to Junior how she felt. Thus in December 2009 our time together began! After about 2 years, we started noticing that our age difference was catching up to us - with three years between us, at the time we were both at different stages in our lives. So in December 2011, we decided to separate and Ahna moved away. This was followed by 7 years of us constantly wondering what the other was up to and what we might have lost. In spring 2018, when Ahna went back to Santa Maria to visit family, something special happened. We agreed to meet up and immediately reconnected. The timing was right! At the end of the year, Junior moved to Indiana to be with Ahna!
Junior's story: I knew pretty early on that I wanted to propose. We were both in the loop that we wanted to get married. The proposal wasn't a secret. I had Ahna even pick out her ring. My job was to find a way to do it that would not give it away so she could be surprised. The original plan was to give it to her while we were on our trip to visit her parents in Costa Rica in January, but the ring was not ready in time! So it happened on a Saturday morning while we were bed so that I could catch her off guard. And it worked! Ahna's story: I knew everything. Junior's not good at keeping a secret :] There were two requests I had: I don't want to see the ring until the moment you propose and I don't want you to propose in front of other people. I'm sure he was really struggling to figure out how to surprise me. While I was making coffee for us, he had jumped out of bed to grab the ring and hide it in the covers. When I came back, he asked for a photo and surprised me at that moment!
