I was working at a Loc Salon in May of 2016 when Jerome came in for an appointment with the owner, however I ended up providing his service instead. Although he was skeptical of letting me do his hair, we ended up having a great conversation and exchanged social media handles. Over the next couple of months we both lost siblings and therefore we weren’t in touch. Jerome came into the salon to get his hair done late October 2016 when another client, a marriage counselor recommended we go out on a date. We took her advice, officially exchanged numbers and planned our first date November 2016. We celebrated New Years together and suffered a few more losses but continued to lift each other up! In February 2017 we made it official and we’ve been inseparable ever since!!
I knew early on in our relationship that i wanted to marry Cassie, back in 2019 to be exact but with career changes, and school a proposal would have to wait. So I waited. We spoke often of marriage and our future, therefore it was never a question of if but when. We entered 2020 together celebrating the union of our close friends and surrounded by love. I decided that I wanted to propose on my birthday, May 14th 2020 that would've been the best birthday gift I’d ever received, however Covid 19 happened and that put a damper on my plans. We didn't know where the world was going but I knew I had to make it happen. I kept telling myself some how, some way I’d ask before the year ended. I kept telling her that she’d be my wife, and she didn’t believe me. I felt like it was crunch time and I had to get it done. I was able to find a beautiful ring that I knew was the one while accompanied by my younger brother and bonus dad. When I saw it I knew that it was the one that would best represent our love and it was a beautiful sight to see. We were down to the wire and as a last hoorah, I finally decided that December 25, 2020 would be the day I asked Cassie to be my wife. I even gave her ring pops on Christmas day as a hint, but that went unnoticed, and was followed up with jokes from Cassie asking me if she should wear her ring pop to the party. Leading up to the proposal I was nervous and had a pit in the bottom of my stomach. Surrounded by our immediate family I got down on one knee and asked Cassie to be my wife. She said yes!! I can’t believe that I was able to disguise the entire proposal with a Christmas party! To this day I got the best gift I’ve ever received! I found someone that would want to spend the rest of their life with me.
