While on a trip to Sydney, Australia, Jacob had a surprise planned. On the third day of the trip, Anna had plans for their day when Jacob casually said, “Eh, how about we do that another day?" He then pulled out a map, pointed to a random cliff, and said, "How about we go here instead!" Anna was unaware that Jacob had discreetly researched Magic Point, a hidden gem located at the end of a short hike that offered breathtaking ocean views. Given its name, it seemed like the perfect spot for a proposal. Anna had plenty of questions, especially since this was definitely not part of the plan. She likes plans... Jacob asked her to give him just one day, and eventually, she agreed. The bride-to-be, admittedly, was a bit grumpy about the sudden change in plans. She really likes plans. Jacob did everything he could to cheer her up before they left, including making a very fitting stop at a bakery called The Grumpy Baker (no, we’re not making that up). Anna got a chocolate croissant, and Jacob a muffin, and they continued on their way. Once they arrived at the beach, Anna started finding shells, which lifted her mood. Jacob happily let her collect them, knowing this would soon become the beach where he proposed. Eventually, they continued walking down the boardwalk and up to Magic Point. At one point, Anna wanted to put her phone in Jacob's backpack, much to his dismay. He said he would do it for her and asked her not to open his backpack!! That was when the suspicion began. Soon after, he asked Anna to walk in front of him, which only made her more suspicious. Finally, with Anna growing suspicious and Jacob getting increasingly nervous, they reached Magic Point. They found a secluded spot tucked away from the boardwalk, nestled in a small nook along the cliffside. Anna laid out all the shells she had collected, admiring them while Jacob sat nervously beside her. He suggested taking a photo of her closer to the cliff’s edge, with the ocean in the background. When she turned around, he was on one knee. There were happy tears, and of course, Anna said yes! The rest of the Australian trip (two more weeks) was spent in the happiest little bubble as newly engaged fiancés! From that moment on, every photo seemed to include Anna proudly showing off her ring; at every meal, every scenic view, and even with every kangaroo.
