Please RSVP by August 15. If circumstances arise that prevent you from knowing for certain by that date, that's fine! Just get in contact with Ilya (i.smolens@gmail.com / 917 574 2034) or Julie (slotnick.julie@gmail.com / 631 664 9147) and we'd be glad to discuss and make arrangements.
We are hosting welcome drinks from 7:30 to 10 pm at Mindspace Williamsburg, a coworking space on the border of Williamsburg and Greenpoint. It's on the fourth floor (Suite 401) of "25 Kent," located at 25 Kent Avenue. There are signs within the complex that can direct you to the correct lobby. Additionally, there will be someone at the complex's front desk who will allow you to access the elevators. You can easily reach the venue by train (8 minute walk from the Bedford L, 8 minute walk from the Nassau G) or by taxi. I'm not sure about the availability of street parking in this neighborhood, but there is a parking garage in the complex! We will be serving wine, cocktails, and pizza from l'Industrie!
Friday's welcome drinks dress code is listed as "dressy casual." That means a wide range of clothing is welcome--whether you're coming straight from work and wearing business casual, if you prefer to dress for comfort, or if you want a more elevated look or an opportunity to wear something fun. Think more blazers, button downs, dresses, jumpsuits, nice jeans and a dressy top, less cargo short or blue jeans. But don't sweat it! Saturday's ceremony is "formal." For men this likely means jacket and tie or suit, and dress shoes rather than sneakers, but not as formal as a tux. For women this might mean long (tea length, floor length) evening dress or nice jumpsuit, or dressy separates. Any color dresses (including red or black) are welcome with the obvious exception of white! And please no white suits. October in New York could be very chilly or it could be very warm. Some components of Saturday's events, including the ceremony, will be outside on the terrace as long as it's not raining. Please plan accordingly and make sure you have an extra layer such as a coat or shawl in case it's cold!
Saturday's ceremony and reception venue is in Vinegar Hill, between Dumbo and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The most convenient neighborhood to stay would be in Downtown Brooklyn, where there are several hotel options including a Hampton Inn, a Marriott, and The Tillary, or in the Financial District, just a stop away on the train. However, New York has excellent public transportation, and is also easily traversable by taxi or Uber. It may be necessary to branch out from neighborhoods immediately near the venue, and accept a 30 minute commute. Some of you may have already reached out to friends or family who can host you in a spare bedroom, or have already selected a hotel of your preference. For those of you still looking for accommodations, I can offer a matchmaking service in network with friends’ and friends-of-friends’ apartments, who are already going to be out of town that weekend. For approximately $200-250 per night, you can rent out a full apartment, in locations such as the East Village, Park Slope, Williamsburg, and Gramercy (so far). All of them are within what I would consider a reasonable commuting distance from the venue. This works out to be about half of the cost of most hotel rooms that we’re seeing available that weekend. Please email me (slotnick.julie@gmail.com) or text (631 664 9147) if this is of interest and I’ll set you up to make arrangements!
Only individuals named on the RSVP are invited. You're welcome to reach out to us to inquire about bringing a specific plus one, for example a significant other who wasn't named on the RSVP. We have a guest count we have to keep to, but there are sometimes opportunities when guests have to withdraw after RSVPing, and space opens up. Saturday's ceremony and reception are for adults only. Friday's welcome drinks are more flexible and young ones would be welcome. We just request you give us a head's up to adjust the count!
