We can't wait to say I Do!

It is hard to believe but when we first met in high school, it wasn't love at first sight. Jake showed up at the beach with shoes on (who does that?) and I talked through an entire movie, which is a pretty normal thing. Nevertheless, to Jake, who had just met me, this wasn't cute, this wasn't cool, this was just annoying. Low and behold, we moved past our first meeting and ended up as pretty good friends. And friends we stayed. For the rest of high school, into and out of our college years and all the way up to the start of "adult-ing". And like so many of us college grads do, we moved home, and with a text and an invite Jake came to a music concert with the Birches, Savanna, and Kian and this was the start of something new! Between EDC, nights out in Enci with the gang, movie nights, beach days, and everything else in between, it’s no surprise that Jake fell for me and not soon after, that I fell for Jake. Flash forward 6 years and here we are, a little older, a little wiser, and so much more in love. To all the Disneyland Mondays, farmer market Sundays, ski weekends, and traveling around the world. From all the little moments to the big events. They all have a special part in our story. We are so excited for our life together, for all our adventures to come, and getting to spend every day, to our last, together.

Jake tried really hard to make this a surprise but Juliette is smart, Juliette is cunning, and Juliette is nosy. Which made the surprise a little bit hard. Nevertheless, he tried. He asked Jana and Michael, who of course said yes. He told all our friends. Everyone was ready. He choose the perfect day, July 11th, JBs grandparents anniversary. So all that was left was to ask her. He tried to make it as nonchalant as ever, "Hey JB, Do you want to go on a hike next Sunday?" "Sure" "Let’s go to Mt. Laguna" (very logical, since this is their favorite place to go) However, this was the day after their friend’s wedding, JB thought to herself, why would JD willingly want to wake up at 5am and hike for miles when the temperature was supposed to be upwards of 90? When she knew, very well, he would rather wake up late and eat a breakfast burrito. JB said yes though and even though she had a faint idea, knew to not get excited because it might just be a coincidence. The day before the proposal though JB was scouring the house for hair ties (our cat loves them) and so she decided to look in Savannas room. She found some but noticed in the closet bouquets of sunflowers, which just so happen to be JBs fav flower…weird? Right. But JB brushed it off. Fast forward. It’s Sunday morning. JDs hungover. JBs hurrying around the house trying to get him to move. She takes a peek in Savannas closet (bc you know, she's nosy) and the Sunflowers? Gone! But again, she didn't want to get her hopes up. They take off, only 30mins behind schedule and arrive to Mt. Laguna! By this point, JB is trying really hard not to be optimistic but then she brushed up against Jakes pocket, and low and be-hold a small square box. Detective JB had her answer and vowed to act as surprised as possible. A few hours later he had asked, everyone was happy and JD still managed to pull off one surprise- a dinner with their friends and family that JB was almost too tired to make but she did and it was perfect!
