Evan had planned a very romantic proposal out in the desert of California but unfortunately due to horrible weather back in San Antonio, my flight was delayed by many, many, MANY hours. I was originally supposed to fly in early but I ended up arriving in Las Vegas at almost 3 AM. Evan had already checked into the hotel so after he picked me up from the airport, we went to our room. While we were trying to get some rest for the next day which was the Marine Corps Ball, I was laying on Evan’s chest and I noticed that his heartbeat was going really fast so I was going to ask him if everything was okay, but before I was able to ask he asked me if I knew why he loved Venus so much. I didn’t know why he loved Venus so much so I asked him why? He said that every time he’s out in the field or feeling sad and is outside of his room, he can see Venus in the night sky. He also said that Venus is the goddess of love and beauty and that I was his Venus. He said that I was always there for him like Venus is in the night sky, and that I am his goddess of love and beauty. After he said that, he reached for the box with the ring in it and since we were laying in bed he scooted down (as if to be on one knee), opened the box and asked me to marry him. With tears in my eyes, I said yes.
